You are warmly invited to the next Environmental Weed Coalition e-meeting
The War on Weeds - how to work better together?
Managing the Silent Invasion
with Simon Upton, Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment
5pm on Wednesday 17 April 2024

More about this meeting:
You are probably familiar with the Commissioner’s 2021 Space Invaders report on weeds and the RadioNZ podcast in February 2024 Concern NZ is not on top of spread of exotic weeds.
At the 17 April meeting, the Commissioner will answer questions from EWC members on ways to improve collaboration with volunteers and community groups; EWC members have been invited to suggest questions about
What community-led groups, volunteers and the public at large can bring to weed management across Aotearoa New Zealand, and
How we can optimise collaboration between these groups and government and council agencies
For more info about the April meeting, please see: Invitation to EWC e-meeting with Simon Upton, Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment
All weed practitioners, whether volunteers or professionals, are warmly invited to participate in this meeting
If you haven’t heard about the Environmental Weed Coalition, here’s a summary:
We are a coalition of community weeding groups and other weed management stakeholders throughout Aotearoa New Zealand who are concerned about the impact of environmental weeds on our native biodiversity and the ecological health of our environment.
We work with Weedbusters and other official agencies to develop improved collaboration across the weed sector and to encourage research and sharing ideas on improved strategies and techniques to control invasive weeds.
We encourage all groups with an interest in weed control to sign up to receive our news letters - this will allow us to better advocate on behalf of conservation and weeding groups to government and other agencies.
